Fort Cooper State Park

Nature at its Best

Over 700 acres of nature at its best, the park provides excellent opportunities for visitors to relax in tranquil surroundings and experience nature.  The park has six natural communities each of which have an array of plant and wildlife some of which are unique to these communities.

The park is home to over 350 species of plant life and equally as many species of wildlife. Visitors can explore the three nature trails each offering a distinct experience.  These trails with a combined total of 5.5 miles offer some of the best plant life and wildlife viewing in Citrus County. The picnic area of the park is a wonderful tree shaded area with picnic tables and grills throughout and has a terrific view of Lake Holathlikaha.  It provides visitors with a serene setting to relax and enjoy nature.

The park also offers facilities, canoes and kayaks for rent.

Recreation Hall- is a perfect venue for small gatherings like a birthday party, family reunion, anniversary celebration, business meeting and small intimate wedding.  The building has a rusty charm and can hold up to 50 people, comes with a fully equipped kitchen, tables, chairs and has A/C and heat.

Pavilion- is a large covered shelter with nice picnic tables, nestled under the trees with a view of Lake Holathlikaha.

It provides a great venue for many types of gatherings.

Gazebo- need a place to have a small wedding ceremony or just a spot to take pictures of family and friends then

perhaps the park's quaint little gazebo would suit your needs.

BBQ pit- is available for rent and offers a nice covered shelter and large surface to cook on.

Canoes and Kayaks - are available for rent to fish from or just check out the scenery around the lake.

For visitors wishing to use the Withlacoochee State Trail the park offers a paved path that goes out to the Withlacoochee State Trail. This connector also enables trail users to come in and enjoy the Park.
