INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS

Interpretive programs are fun, educational programs guided by a Park Ranger. These programs are often held outdoors. It is recommended that participants wear proper attire. Should you need special assistance, please contact the office at 352-726-0315 prior to the event. 

HIKE WITH A RANGER

NOVEMBER 9, 2019 AT 9:00 AM

Join us for a fun, enjoyable, and informative hike for the whole family. The hike will start at the Pavilion beginning at 9:00 a.m. and will be led by a Park Ranger.  Participants will hike one of the three trails, approximately 1.5 mile hike, looking at different plants, animals and insects.  It is  recommended participants wear close-toed shoes and suggest they bring along water, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat or visor, camera and binoculars.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  The program is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.  $3.00 per vehicle park entrance fee required.

GEOCACHING BASICS AND HUNT

ROCK PAINTING

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2019 

FROM 8:30 AM TO 10:30 AM

 

Join us at Fort Cooper State Park for a fun, enjoyable and relaxing morning of learning how to paint rocks while taking in the beautiful natural setting and view of Lake Holathlikaha.  You can bring your own rocks and supplies or use the ones provided (two rocks per person)

Pack a lunch and have a picnic in the park afterwards.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.  This event is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

$3.00 per vehicle entrance fee required

BAT VIEWING

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2019

FROM 5:30 PM TO 6:30 PM

 

Join us for an amazing bat viewing at Fort Cooper State Park.  Meet at the pavilion at the designated time and at sundown, watch as the bats leave the huge bat condo they call home for their nightly flight in search of a meal.  It is recommended that participants wear closed-toed shoes and it is suggested they bring along water, insect repellent, flashlight and a camera.  Children must be accompanied by and adult.  This event is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

JUNIOR RANGER PROGRAM

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2019

FROM 10:00 AM TO 12:00 PM

 

Join a Park Ranger for a fun & exciting

educational event.  The Florida State Parks' Junior Ranger Program provides the opportunity for young people to learn, serve and share Florida's natural and cultural resources.  Complete activities and tasks to earn a Junior Ranger patch and ultimately a badge.

Children must be accompanied by and adult.  This event is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

OPT OUTSIDE NATURE HIKE

Instead of joining the masses of people who are taking part in Black Friday, why not opt to spend time outside.  Join a Park Ranger for a  fun, relaxing, enjoyable, and informative nature hike and be sure to bring along the whole family or friends.
